CONSTRUCTION
The pouring furnace consists of four basic groups:
- First group – longitudinal travel (orbit motor)
- Second group – transverse travel, including bottom-pour stopper
- Third group – inductor with power 120 kW, voltage 380 V 50Hz, whose main function is to heat the liquid metal. The inductor is continuously air-cooled during operation.
- Fourth group – switchboard with built-in transformer, contactors, and control station.
POURING PROCESS
The pouring process proceeds as follows: The DISAMATIC 2032 A positions the molds on the conveyor in the correct orientation. The correct position ensures that the open pouring basin in the mold is aligned with the bottom-pour stopper on the bottom of the tub. When the desired position is reached, the operator manually lifts the bottom-pour stopper (using a lever) to fill the mold until the liquid metal is visible in the overflow.
The pouring speed of the molds can be adjusted depending on the diameter of the ceramic block and the orientation of the bottom-pour stopper towards the ceramic block.
CERAMICS
The manufacturer, BBC, recommends using a two-layer fire-brick lining, where one layer is permanent and the other is expendable.
The permanent lining consists of an insulating layer, which is lightweight, burnt stone, and a sillimanite layer.
The expendable layer consists of corundum material, i.e., concrete with a high clay content (94%). Both parts are connected by a special cement.
The tub inductor is located within a lining made of Al₂O₃ or MgO and SiO₂, depending on the needs.
The material used for the bottom-pour stopper is chamotte with varying clay content.
The inductor is attached to the pouring furnace with screws and a sealing compound that has adequate plasticity and heat resistance.
The entire device consists of three stopper rod sleeves, a bot, and a ceramic block, where the bot and stopper rod sleeves are connected. The bottom-pour stopper is seated on a threaded bar. The bottom-pour stopper is continuously air-cooled. Recommended air pressure: 6 atm.

The system was designed to reduce manual handling of the bags. The operator places the full Big Bag in the loading area and attaches its lifting loops to the lifting crossbeam. The subsequent lifting, travel and positioning operations are carried out automatically by programmable electric hoists.
The installation incorporates a double gantry-type supporting structure equipped with two VICINAY electric wire-rope hoists, each with a lifting capacity of 1,600 kg. The hoists are fitted with electric travelling trolleys and numerically controlled positioning. Each hoist has a 3 kW lifting motor and a 0.55 kW travelling motor, with an approximate lifting speed range of 1.8 to 14.5 m/min.
Once positioned above the receiving station, the Big Bag is opened from the bottom by means of a removable and replaceable knife system, allowing rapid product discharge. The material then passes through a COMATEC DRG-300 lump breaker, a K-900-DC circular vibrating screener and a 2,000-litre buffer hopper. From the hopper, the product is metered by means of a tubular screw feeder.
The system was originally designed for handling PTA powder, with an apparent bulk density of approximately 0.9-1 kg/dm³. It may also be suitable for other dry powders or granular products, subject to verification of product compatibility, material construction, ATEX classification and the required filtration and discharge arrangements.
