About the Finger Jointer When feeding wood into the machine, it is possible to mark defects, such as knots or cracks, with a luminescent crayon. The machine will cut out these defects, including the crayon lines. For instance, to get cladding or paneling without knots or holes. Before the profiling and also before the pressing, the wood is brought to a stationary position, fixed sideways and clamped to an accurate reference surface above. This results in a highly accurate connection of the finger joint, with a flat surface at the joint and a straight end-product. This enables feeding in long lengths of 6 meters or even longer. As a result, the machine can process all the wood, including longer lengths, and use it all (except for the defects) for the jointed end-product.
